Floral Bag With Clay Button

As-salaamu'alaykum wa Rahmatu Llahi wa Barakatuhu

I don't think there is anything more fun to sew than a bag!

The pattern I started out with was pretty plain but I decided to add some pockets, inside and outside. Mom also has an embroidery machine, so I got to add a little more detail to the strap.. I love the way it turned out!

Inside of bag.

I made the button out of clay, sorry I couldn't get a clear picture of it. It's very easy to make. I used Premo clay. Make the shape of the button as you wish out of white or ivory clay. Make indents in the button using a pin (length wise) so you have long grooves, poke a few holes and bake. Once cool, rub some 'burnt brown' acrylic paint into the grooves.

There you go. Insha'Allah I would like to try out another bag.. hopefully in a beautiful green!!

Wow, MA! Beautiful blog, and the semi-instructional bag-making posts are very cool :)

It's wonderful to see Muslims putting their creativity to good use...I don't have anything to point to myself, but you might find these links interesting:

As-salaamu'alaykum wa Rahmatu Llahi wa Barakatuhu sister,

Jazak'Allah.
Oh yes... AlhumduliLlah, I never forget whatever I can do/and do comes from Allah, I just pray I only use it for good, insha'Allah.

Insha'Allah I hope one day you too get the opportunity to do something 'creative'. :)

Wa'alaykum as-salaam wa Rahmatu Llahi wa Barakatuhu my dearest Faith,

Jazak'Allah for the wonderful comments.

Do you know how to sew?? I have a basic idea of sewing, so I think others who have at least the basics down, could make a bag. Give it a try!

And I am sooooo thrilled to hear you are inspired to do more crafty things. I would love to hear about your new adventures.. I'm sure all those things you found in you room .. could turn out to be a craft supply heaven :)

Love Farhana

Salam alaikum,

Nope, sadly I have zero sewing skills :( Is it hard to learn though?

As-salaamu'alaykum wa Rahmatu Llahi wa Barakatuhu my dearest sister Faith,

Sorry for the delayed response.

Humm.. no, I really don't think it's hard to learn, at different stages it gets a little challenging.. but that's later on. But learning the basic is easy..and useful.. (ie: you can make lots of things knowing just the basics!)

I hope you give it a try, insha'Allah. And if there is any way I can help please feel free to contact me.

Ma'salaama
Love Farhana
